I need a portable DVD player for 3 kids to watch in 2 rows of seats and not installed in the roof of the van.? I am going on a long car trip (9 1/2 hours) w/ 3 kids under the age of 6 in a mini van that cannot have 3 car seats in one row. I do not want the DVD player in the roof of the car. Ideally I need one w/ 3 screens or 1 screen to hang between the 2 front seats, and a separate screen in the back. I would like to have one w/ headphones for all 3 kids. I would love any recommendations. It's very hard to search for this on-line.

portable dvd for car (kids) or media player? looking for a new portable dvd player for car, one that attaches to the back of the seat, preferably tablet style. The issue - I've gone thru two dvd players so far (one coby, the other toshiba), so I am not sure what the deals is. I do know I need a new one. can someone recommend a new table style dvd that attaches easily to the back of the headrest? an 7-8.5inches would do. Also, what about a media player? are there any out there that would play DVD, and have either internal memory or card slot to run dvix videos? any under say $300? I toyed for a while with the idea of a car pc, but it seems at least one needs ~$1200 for that kind of stuff. too much for me.
What's a good portable dvd player for school-aged kids? We're going on some long road trips and think something like this would come in handy. I'm hoping to find one that's made specifically for kids - if there's one out there. If you have one you like, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks! P.S. Please - no comments on how they don't need to be watching tv in the car (I'm predicting someone will get on a soapbox about this!) We'll be in the car for over 10 hours and want to pop in a video or two along the way. Thanks : )

Does anyone know of a good portable DVD player for a preschooler? My son is almost 4, and in the last year he has broken 3 portable dvd players and 2 full size ones. He does not break them on purpose, but we give him two hours a day to watch movies and he is a very independent child so he likes to work things for himself. Usually the door breaks, that holds the DVD in place. That is our most common problem. We are trying to find a DVD player that would not break as easily, that we could buy him for Christmas. We were thinking about the Fisher Price Kids Tough DVD player but I have read bad reviews on it lately. Any Ideas?

Any suggestion for a portable DVD player for the car that allows game system hookup? Would prefer a portable DVD system with dual screens, and would like to have it with a battery. I saw a perfect one by Venturer, an 8.4" dual screen system, but can't find it at any store online or otherwise. I tried to email Venturer, and message failed. I am at a loss for what other system might work. We want to take on a long road trip and let the kids hook up their game system for the hours on the road.

Why dosen't my dvd work in my dvd player? My sister burnt me a dvd and for some reason it dosen't work in my dvd player, but it works in hers and in the portable dvd player her kids own. There's no scratches or anything, everytime I put it in my dvd player it says "Disk Error". My dad thinks it might be because my dvd player is a little old so maybe I just need to try a different one. What do you think?
What is best DVD player for cross country car trip w/2 kids? My sister & I are driving 15 hrs with my 2 kids and I'm thinking it's time to invest in a portable DVD player for the car. What should I look for in terms of features, battery life, etc? Any recommendations...or warnings? Wow! So judgemental. No my kids don't watch TV at home. You look out a window for 15 hrs w/o getting bored & let me know how that goes! PS: we make this trip & another of this magnitude 3-4 times a year so this would ideally be a longer-term investment.

How many portable DVD players do you take on vacation with your kids? We're going on a week-long road trip with our 3 yo and a 7 yo. We're planning on buying a portable DVD player to take with us, and we have one available that we can borrow from a friend, if we'd like. I'm trying to determine whether it would be better to borrow the other player plus the one we're buying, then both kids can watch what they want, when they want to, and there's no fighting over what movie they are watching. Or would it be ok to just take the one we're going to buy and have one kid choose the movie, then when it's over have the other choose the next movie. What would you do?
How do I get my kids to play with their toys? If I have to estimate my kids have at least 300 toys. They have big bulky toys and they have small toys and a bunch of toys in between. I plan to do a garage sale to get rid of some. Will having less toys get them to play with the ones they already have? I admit we did by them a back yard swimming pool today. They have a computer in their room, and a portable dvd player. My kids get new toys on a regular basis and then our neighbors old toys. How did you get your child to play with their toys? They are 4 and 2 years of age.
Portable DVD Player? So I'm taking a very long car ride with kids and was considering the dual screen dvd player for the car. Then I was thinking I should get a single portable to take with me other places. Any ideas on it? Which would be a better investment. Most singles I've seen are almost as much as the dual screen.

Can you help me find the perfect portable DVD player for my husband? I'm wanting to get my husband a portable DVD player for Christmas that he can use in the car mostly but also be able to take anywhere. I am technologically challenged and don't even know where to begin. Could you suggest a brand and model that's reliable and worth the money, and also the website I can look/purchase it? Looking for under $200.00. I know, I'm cheap but we also have 4 kids to buy for. LOL. Me and my dumb self thank you kindly for even taking the time to read my question!

Good portable DVD player in France? I need a good DVD player for our flight to the States (11 1/2 hours). I think it'll help my three kids pass the time better (ages 3, 6 & 8). I need a good, long battery life and that's not easy to find here. I've tried Planète Saterne, Fnac, Darty, Auchan and Cora. Where else? Please help!

Portable DVD Players - I need some advice? I am looking into buying a portable DVD player for my car. I will use for road trips for my 2 kids who will sit in the middle row of our mini-van. What brand would you recommend? Is just 1 DVD player adequate for 2 kids (like if I position it between the two front seats). How is the sound? Any advice would be great.

I need a good, reliable DVD player that can handle a little wear from kids handling it within the next couple of days, so I can't order it online, and Walmart and Bestbuy are the best electronics stores in my area. We have audio but not video on our portable DVD player. How do we fix it? It's a dual screen, so it's got the cables that come from the main device and plug in to each screen. (We secure them to the back of the captain's chairs in the minivan so our kids can watch movies during long road trips.) The screen is bright blue the whole time, not dark. All of the cables are connected (and they are all black). It plays all DVDs -- we can HEAR the movie, we just can't SEE it. The device has worked just fine until now. The screen is always blue. It is the only thing we can see.
Few questions, PSP, DS, DVD player....? We are taking a long road trip and my kids will be watching the portable DVD player, my husband has a PSP and I have a DS. We have two power ports, 1 in back, 1 in front. My questions are.... is it safe to use both ports at the same time? and do they make car adapters for those 3 devices? and if so, where can I get them? Please help. Thanks!
Portable DVD player set up on the toddler's stroller? What the...? I had a bit of a shock today at the mall. A stroller that had a LCD screen attached to the handlebar and showing a cartoon for the toddler. I am not usually one to judge but I thought to myself that surely the kid would be better off looking at something else than a DVD he might have already seen 20 times. There are lots of things to look at in a big mall, and people, observations should be made in order to develop the brain. Children learn by being curious and asking questions. Also if you can't take your kid out for a couple of hours without the need to keep him quiet with a cartoon, there is a problem! Could be a new trend, I just find it a touch disturbing. What do you think? Is that common where you live? Must be a new trend then. Now I feel guilty about my screen deprived kids. I'll get their LCDs straight back in the car next time we have to go to the local shops. Then fix them up on the stroller whilst I choose what flavour of yogurt I'll buy... We never know, they may have a "meltdown" too.
Do portable DVD players come with headrest holders for the vehicles ? If NOT do they make the headrest holders. As I guess I need to buy 2 of them that way each kids can watch their own movie, Anyone have any suggestions what kind but I don't want to spent to much money

Kids and Traveling. What to do? I have a one year old and a two year old. The last time we took a road trip our daugher was still on formula. So we're hoping this road trip will be easier. What we can't figure out is how to make the trip with as little stops as possible. We're already going to get a portable DVD player and some kids movies to occupy them while they're awake... But what to do about food? I mean, fruit snacks and crackers can't be all we need to bring? Juice boxes and such. Can anyone help? Give us some ideas on how to make the trip a smooth one? It's a 13-15 hour drive so obviously when we stop for gas we'll let the kids down to stretch their legs. PLEASE HELP?
My family is going on a 5hr flight to CA. Looking for some good suggestions on inflight activities for kids... The children are 11,6 and 2. The 2 year old especially needs some distraction. We have a portable DVD player that we will be bringing. Any other suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!

Fun camping activities for kids? we're camping at Greers Ferry Lake in Heber Springs, AR... so there's swimming and I bought fishing poles. My kids are insisting on bringing portable DVD players, video games, etc.... the sad thing is they're only 4, 8, and 10.... what can I do to get them to enjoy nature??? I remember when I was a kid I LOVED camping with my folks.... I want my kids to have that same feeling about camping, but I don't think horse shoes, roasting marshmallows, etc will be enough with the "high tech" kids of today :( Great ideas.. keep them coming!
Cigarette lighter in car not working? It does not work and would like it to so my kids can use portable DVD player, is this something I could possibly fix myself, thinking blown fuse? Just thought I would ask, and no I do not smoke! oh yah, bought the car used and no manual was included, sure I can find it online just dont want to pay a dealer tons of money for nothing big
Are kids under 13 these days more spoiled than they've ever been? I mean, judging by some of the questions I've seen on here... grade school kids with cell phones and ipods and portable dvd players, expecting new ones each year, talking about all this as if it's normal... ?? oh and laptops/personal computers too... everyone expects to have their own, in their own room! I'm 19 myself - even kids a couple of years younger than I am are so much more spoiled than I or any of my friends had been
Entertaining kids on a long drive? We are taking a 24-hour long drive with a 10 year old girl and a 6 year old boy. We're only going for a wedding, so we'll only be at our destination for 2 days and then be back on the road. Any ideas for helping to entertain them? We have 2 portable DVD players and 2 DS's. I just got them new DS games that they can't play until we leave. Any other ideas for entertaining them?
on buying a portable dvd player? i'm taking a road trip and want to buy a portable dvd for the kids. below is the description. when it says car adaptor does this mean i can plug it into the lighter? Item Description Sit back, relax and watch movies on the go with this versatile player Enjoy your favorite DVD movies, CD music and MP3 music on CD-R/RW, or view your JPEG photos anytime, anyplace 7" widescreen color LCD Built-in stereo speakers Rechargeable battery Car power adapter, remote & A/V cable included The seven-inch color LCD features a widescreen format, and there are built-in stereo speakers for movie soundtracks or music You can watch for up to two hours with the rechargeable battery, or you can use the supplied vehicle adapter Includes a handy remote control
Car DVD price quotes are in and I'm battling it out with hubby. Need your opinion?!? We have the opportunity to get two 7" Myron and Davis built-in headrest DVD players for $1650-1700, OR one fold down DVD (10" or 13") for $600-1,000. Prices include installation. We have two kids, ages 21 months and 12 years. We already have a portable DVD player that can be strapped onto a seat as a "supplement" to either of these two options. So...which DVD setup would you go with? Headrest or single fold-down DVD player??? JScorpio, I have a 21 month old who has the attention span of a flea and doesn't know how to read yet. Let me clarify for everyone...the DVD players would be used mainly for long drives; i.e. road trips in the summer, or any drive that will take at least an hour. This is not a feature to make them behave while I'm driving, as I don't have problems with that. Again, this is "supplemental" to all other things that will be available to them in the car. Thanks for your concern and recommendations, but my question has nothing to do with that.
Why won't my DVD+R discs play in DVD Players? I burn them correctly according to all online sources and tutorials but nothing seems to work =(. I'm trying to get some home videos of my kids burned onto DVDs to give out during the holidays to my family. But the problem I get is when I try to play it in my DVD player I get a message on my TV screen that says "Please check disk." But when I play them in my computer, Xbox 360 console, or Portable DVD player, they work fine. I don't understand why they won't play in any of my DVD players or in-TV DVD Players. Could any of you help me with this? And is it the DVD+R's? Do I need DVD-R's? Thanks in advance! -Tom
